How to configure Global Path Behavior
Global Path Behavior
Global paths are typically a network location. When DocStyle is launched it will check for the existence of a global path for number schemes, templates, style sets and change sets. If found a copy of the network file will be copied locally overwriting any local copies. DocStyle will then use the local copy of the file. If no network connection is available or the global path cannot be found then DocStyle will continue to use the local copy of the files.
Global files will be marked as global in the DocStyle and cannot be deleted, renamed or overwritten in the user interface.
Deleting Global Files From Client Computers
To delete previously distributed global files from the client’s computer the files should be deleted from the global path location. Local files are updated from the global location each time DocStyle is run. If a file is found to be missing in the global path it will be deleted locally.
Working Offline With Global Files
Global files are copied locally for use when no network connection is available. The local copies of the files will be used until a network connection is re-established.
Distributing DocStyleRibbonConfig.xml
A modified DocStyleRibbonConfig.xml file can be automatically distributed during installation by co-locating the customized file with the Setup.exe and DocStyleRibbonSetup.msi file. The customized file will be saved in installation directory and used by the local client.
